Ferrin Contemporary Gallery ‘It’s about some sort of transition or searching’
by John Seven, Eagle Correspondent

His show “Directions,” which opened this weekend, features people — individuals and groups — that pull from his own story with the intent of allowing viewers to wrap their own narratives around the gathering.

SIN-YING HO: PAST FORWARD on view at HOOD DOWNTOWN

SIN-YING HO: PAST FORWARD

March 30–May 27, 2018
Hood Downtown, Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth, Hanover, NH

Opening with the artist: Friday, April 6, 5–7pm
“Conversations and Connections” discussion with
Hood Director, John Stomberg and Sin-ying Ho: Saturday, April 7, 2–3pm

If Chinese ceramic art has a heart, it beats in Jingdezhen. For centuries, artisans there have made vessels that traveled far and wide. Their fluid forms and recognizable decorations have inspired celebratory prose and devoted followers around the world. Today, artist Sin-ying Ho works in these same ceramics factories. Though Jingdezhen potters have long defined tradition, Ho has expanded both their forms and their imagery in contemporary ceramics that are thoroughly of the twenty-first century.
