“With each acquisition, we witness the steady process and dedication of curators as they consider how these artworks fit into and are subsequently added to their collections. These efforts continue as exhibitions are curated, catalogs published and permanent collections reinterpreted.

The work that takes place behind the scenes for each object acquired is not always visible. The process leads to important documentation as new research and scholarship are made public when objects are placed on view. This information becomes even more widely accessible and searchable through digital means on museum websites. Catalog essays, new photography, and interviews with both collectors and artists provide valuable narratives. Each object’s provenance, concept, and broader context are explored and important biographical information about the artists’ lives recorded. Connections are made as archival materials emerge and donors provide personal narratives about their collecting and artists about their practice. Generational linkages are established among communities when seen in photographs taken during studio visits. Archival printed matter from the original exhibitions and financial records emerge that illustrate the interconnections between artists, galleries, and the collectors who support them.

Since 2023, Isabel has helped numerous collectors looking to deacquisition and prepare for collections exhibitions through data entry, the coordination of institutional gifting, art handling, and packing/shipping.

Originally from Cabin John, MD, Isabel graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Bennington College in 2018 with concentrations in music, visual arts, and neuroscience. Soon after, Isabel relocated to North Adams, MA to work in Visitor Experience at MASS MoCA. In addition to Collections Services, Isabel has also managed Marketing and Communications, Sales, Shipping/Handling, and Web Development for Ferrin Contemporary since 2021.

Carleigh is the founder of CQ Art Advisory LLC. Based in New York, Carleigh Queenth gained 21 years of appraisal experience at Christie’s auction house where she was Vice President, Head of the European Ceramics, Glass, and Chinese Export Art in New York, and co-head of their Exceptional auction. During her tenure she worked closely on numerous collection sales, including David and Peggy Rockefeller, Ann and Gordon Getty, as well as the Rothschild family. Carleigh excels at project and client management, using her decades of auction experience to help clients navigate appraising and selling their collections to their best advantage. She is USPAP compliant and a Certified member of the Appraiser’s Association of America, and can help with Insurance, Charitable Donation, Estate Tax, and Fair Market Value appraisals.

An executive board member of the American Ceramic Circle, Carleigh is also involved in many arts groups, including the Decorative Arts Trust and the French Porcelain Society. She is an Attingham Summer School and Royal Collection Studies alumna.
